Biography
Born in Cambridge, England in 1952, Simon MacCorkindale's first career choice was to follow in his Air Force pilot father's footsteps, but his deteriorating eyesight forced him to choose an alternative vocation. He took drama classes following high school graduation and put in much time on the repertory theatre stage, culminating in an appearance in the highly acclaimed production of Pygamalion, with Alec McCowen and Diana Rigg in 1974.
Simon later appeared in several classical TV productions, such as "I, Claudius" (1976) (mini) and "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977) (mini). His major breakthrough in film was as a charming and cunning murderer in Death on the Nile (1978), with similar roles in such films as Riddle of the Sands, The (1979). Hollywood became an option for him in the 80s and he found his patrician good looks well suited for TV, with series roles in soap operas ("Falcon Crest") as well as adventures ("Manimal").
Since then Simon has delved into stage projects featuring as both director and actor, notably in "Macbeth" and "The Merchant of Venice". Divorced earlier on in his career from actress Fiona Fullerton, he has since married actress Susan George, also producing a few of her films. He focused for a time as a producer/director/writer on a variety of personal projects, but has since concentrated again on performing. provided by: http://us.imdb.com/SearchBios?Gary%20Brumburgh%20/%20GBrumburgh@pacbell.net

Susan and Simon are regular visitors to Charles's Highgrove home and she fondly describes the Prince as, "a wonderful friend - loyal, trusting, thoughtful, generous and warm". While writing her autobiography last year, she studiously avoided cashing in on the relationship, saying, "It's just not something I could ever do".
Actress Susan George came up to the Radio 5 Live commentary position yesterday and if anyone looks like trouble, she does. Wall-to-wall trouble. Unfortunately her husband, actor Simon McCorkindale, was with her and I should think he could be a bit of a handful as well. The gorgeous Miss George will be backing Shooting Light in the Gold Cup, as will England footballer Sol Campbell, who was a guest of the Bamfords in the lavish JCB box. The Bamford money will be on Jonjo O'Neill's Giocomo in the race they sponsor. By George, it has to be Shooting Light By Charlie Brooks (Filed: 13/03/2002)
